Statis DJ
Internationally renowned Dj and Producer ‘Statis’ has been creating waves in the music scene for over 15 years. Playing in clubs predominantly throughout the UK and producing tracks for many of Britains top music, design and fashion talent, Statis has carved a niche for himself in London’s underground music scene. Statis’ club sets have been enjoyed by high profile names such as P.Diddy and Justin Timberlake and British favourites, Estelle, So Solid, Miss Dynamite and Lemar to name a few.
Statis’ Dj sets contain a huge variety of musical styles ranging from Hip-hop and R&B to Rock and House classics, incorporating elements of Leftfield, Ragga and Breakbeat. This mixture seeps into his production style as he has created tracks in all fields and more recently combined them to create a truly saleable British sound. Statis is currently working on an album with his co-writer/producer, Dj Nikki, under the name Beatnik (Beatniktv.com). Their sound has fused; club shaking beats, strong rock riffs, beautiful vocal hooks and punk influenced raps, all mixed up within an electronic production style
Coming from a background of old school Hip-Hop and early Jungle, Statis learned at a very young age how to please a crowd with his smooth mixing style. He then developed into a turntablist, incorporating the skills into his live sets to create a captivatingly involving performance. Clubs throughout Britain and Europe have been welcoming his unique party experience, as he keeps all ages and nationalities heaving on the dancefloor.
Statis has held residencies in many of London’s top nightclubs and his regular Saturday night at Opal has grown over the last three years into one of the capitals most beloved and happening weekend events. Statis has also played in many clubs around Britian and across Europe, from high capacity British venues Ministry of Sound, Scala and The Worx to Eden in Ibiza, Statis has covered the larger scale of clubs. He has also played at some of the worlds most exclusive smaller venues for afterparties and one-off events in such luxurious surroundings as Athens and celebrity haunts like China Whites, 57 Jermyn St and Kabaret’s Prophecy.
Statis is now focussing on raising the profile of his Djing and music through his recent releases and playing more venues around Britain, getting his musical ethos directly to the people who matter, the clubbers!
